She is known for using the power of her voice to inspire her audiences, leaving them hanging onto every word.
As a recording artist, she performs under the name BukekaStyle, showcasing a powerful range that spans opera, jazz, and modern soul. She has opened for entertainment industry and civil rights icons including Harry Belafonte, Maya Angelou, and Della Reese. Beyond the stage, Bukeka is a passionate advocate for musicians' health and well-being, using her platform to uplift and empower the creative community.
In 2021, Ms. Blakemore was appointed State Chair for Kansas in the G100 wing of the global Women’s Economic Forum – Sheconomy, a role dedicated to empowering women to thrive in business and in life. Her global impact includes representing Kansas City in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, where she has supported the city’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Music. She has also presented at conferences around the world, championing initiatives in arts, education, culture, music, and creative innovation.
